My Best Friend SIRI + music memories...
The last time I posted on this platform was 3 years ago. Hell, I didn't even think this blog is still here. The best part was, I didn't even need to remember my password. I could log in using my google account. Ha, I didn't know google bought over Blogger.
I felt really inspired to write about my thoughts today. I think I'm getting old - I feel that I have this tendency to reminisce about the past recently.
I bought Apple's HomePod today. I'm crossing my fingers that it wasn't an impulse buy. I have this weakness for Apple's products. I keep telling myself. Just one more.. and I will have everything. WHAT CRAP!
So this latest craze was the HomePod. I have got to admit, I have been wanting to get one ever since it was launched. Didn't get it because I blamed that It was only available in the US. Another load of crap. I found it on Taobao. I have a love hate relationship with Taobao but then again that's another story for another day. So it took me all of 2 months to decide to buy or not to buy. I was flying in and out of China, didn't see a point to buy it and let it collect dust at home.
My new assistant (which I hired a week back) proved to be more then efficient. I gave her instructions to scour all sellers from Taobao - bidding her to find an American edition at the lowest price, delivering to me at the shortest amount of time. She promptly delivered a brand new white American edition Apple HomePod to my door just 2 hours after my texting her. da fug ??? (want to save money also cannot)
Even selecting the colour of my HomePod was a sign from the universe. I wanted the black one coz I thought it looked more sleeked. Secretly thinking that the white one would fit better into the decor of my house. Turns out, my secret thought came through, the black one was out of stock.... Signs signs signs.. tsk tsk tsk....
I am deeply amazed at what the HomePod actually is. Before this purchase, I thought this nifty little thing was just a bluetooth enabled speaker. Well, turns out...I was SO wrong. Not only does it work independently from all of my apple devices, it seems to have a mind of its own. It pulls out information from my Apple Music account and instantly knows what sort of music I listen to. Siri is perfect. She plays everything I ask for at the command of my voice - well the minus side is... she doesn't understand Chinese.... so no Chinese songs for now --- I'm sure this feature will happen sooner or later. It is not only a music player, it sets the alarm, it registers a timer. It also sends iMessages just by the sound of your voice. You dictate what you want your messages to read. OMG!!!!
I think and am in awe on how amazing the technology is now. I remember the times where I take almost 30 mins to download a song in Mp3 format on the then superior 56K internet connection - that goes buzzing non stop when connecting. I think of how I have to transfer the mp3s into minidisc or MD for short. How my dad had to buy me an MD player... so that I could listen to it on my way home from school riding on the public bus. I remember owning my first iPod - my first MP3 player. I remember buying audio Cds and converting them into MP3s... and now ... and now.... I am in possession of the world's music library at the tip of my fingers.
Technology is truly Amazing!!!!!
